Daily and seasonal variation of the nuisance caused by Simulium damnosum s.l. in three epidemiological facies of onchocerciasis (Soubré, Bouaflé and Touba) in Côte d'Ivoire

To do this, were captured on humans, identified dissected. entomological data revealed total 4244 captured. comparison between periods reveals averages 42.4; 2.03; 22.3 bites/man/ hour 5.04; 10.06; 27.1 bites/man/hour recorded morning, afternoon evening respectively Soubré Bouaflé. Touba respective 12.06 83.06 morning evening. A significant difference observed bite density received during rainy dry seasons (χ2 = 4.81; p 0.022). season about twice as high (OR=1.87). due appeared divisions Soubré, Bouaflé varied seasonally localities. eradicate nuisance, control system should eliminate by various means such destruction breeding sites.
